About Dr. Charles H. (Chuck) King
Dr.
King earned a B.A. in Psychology from Upsala College and Masters degrees
in Psychology and in Social Work from Montclair State College and
Rutgers University. He completed his Ph.D. in School Community
Psychology at Hofstra University and postdoctoral studies in
Clinical Psychology at Hofstra and the Institute for Rational Living.
Dr.
King is a Licensed Psychologist in New York and Florida. He is
Certified as School Psychologist and a School District Administrator
in New York and as an Impartial Hearing Officer from the New York State
Education Department. He has National Certification as a School
Psychologist.
Dr.
King earned the distinction of being a
Diplomate in School Psychology of the American Board of Professional
Psychology (ABPP). He is a recipient of the
Distinguished Service Award from the Council of
Presidents of Psychology Specialty Academies of ABPP.
Since 1976, he
has been a school psychologist. In addition, he has been a
consultant to a variety school districts.
Since 1980, Dr. King has maintained a private psychology practice with offices on
the North and South Shores of Long Island, New York.
Dr.
King's hospital experience working with
inpatients and outpatients includes several years with Long Island
Jewish/Hillside Medical Center, Essex County Hospital, Glen Cove
Hospital, and Brunswick Hosptial. He also has been a medical
expert for the Social Security Office of Hearings and Appeals.
He
has been a member of the adjunct faculty of Hofstra University, St.
John’s University, and Queens College. His field supervision
includes Adelphi University (School of Social Work), Iona College, and Touro College.
Dr.
King is an elected officer and committee member in a variety of psychology organizations. He is
President-Elect of the Nassau County Psychological
Association and on its Executive Board. He served as President of
the School Division of the New York State Psychological Association,
Chairman and Secretary of the Council of Presidents of the Psychology
Specialty Academies of the American Board of Professional Psychology,
President of the American Academy of School Psychology, and on the
Executive Committee of the Clinical Division of the New York State
Psychological Association. He is a member of the American
Psychological Association; American Association of Sex Educators,
Counselors and Therapists, National Association of Social Workers, and
the Academy of Certified Social Workers.
On a
personal note, Dr. King is an avid tennis player and enjoys boating and
travel. He is the proud father of two sons, one of whom is
pursuing a career in psychology.
